We are blessed with the opportunity to be of service to our fellow human beings who share, with us, "this fragile Earth, our island home."
Habitat for Humanity, through its local affiliate, "Raise the Roof," constructs homes in New Haven and Bridgeport and we pitch in to help get the job done.
We support and worship in the Chapel on the Green worship and lunch program sponsored by Trinity Church New Haven.
We are helping to rebuild and fund the education provided by Holy Trinity School in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. This ministry has been "adopted" by our Sunday School and the children's efforts have helped out the school for over six years.
Every fall, we field a contingent of walkers to support and raise funds for the annual Crop Walk to combat hunger both globally and in our community.
Through Guilford Interfaith Volunteers, we support the Guilford Food Bank, serving our hungry and food-insecure friends and neighbors. We answer the call to "feed the hungry" by bringing requested food items each week.
Also through Guilford Interfaith Volunteers, we contribute to Charlie's Closet, a medical equipment clearinghouse.
Episcopal Relief and Development, the Bishop's Fund for Children, and United Thank Offering are just a few of the ministries that we help with our "time, talent and treasure." The Town of Guilford's Fuel Assistance Program began with an endowed fund at Christ Church. We receive a special offering to add to this fund every winter.
Christ Church also hosts morning and afternoon meetings of Alcoholics Anonymous® (AA) Monday through Saturday. AA is a fellowship of men and women who share their experience, strength and hope with each other that they may address their disease and support one another in recovery from alcoholism. Other support and 12-Step groups that we host include Overeaters Anonymous and Joy of Living.
