Our Annual Parish Meeting ...
...is scheduled for Sunday, February 6; however, since it seems unlikely -- given the current state of the pandemic -- that we will have the necessary quorum, we will follow a version of last year's plan. We will convene the meeting following the 10a.m. service, recognize that we lack the necessary quorum, and then adjourn until recalled by the Vestry no later than January 5. We actually hope to have the meeting in early March or April. Thanks to leaders of Parish ministries and programs for all the reports that have been received by the Parish Office. A few are still outstanding. We hope to be able to present a complete set in the next week. Exploring Confirmation with Will Parker ... ... begins this Sunday, February 6 immediately following Holy Communion. This program will offer Christ Church High School students the opportunity to consider confirming their baptismal promises with Bishop Ian Douglas in June . What makes this program particularly exciting is that Will's father, the Rev. Andrew Parker, literally wrote the text they'll be using: Keeping the Promise, a curriculum for teenagers thinking about Confirmation in the Episcopal Church. Unable to Obtain an Antigen Test? The Town has provided Christ Church with a case of COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests -- especially for those who live at addresses to which covidtest.gov declined to deliver, as multi-family or commercial. The Rectory being one of the latter. These tests are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Cecelia Parker's Poetry Table & Office Hours are back! Be sure and check out Cecelia's Poetry Table after both Sunday services. Perhaps one of these poems might provide an occasion for you to explore a poetic, theological or personal topic with Cecelia Parker, our seminary intern from Berkeley Divinity School, the Episcopal seminary nested within Yale Divinity School. Feel free to drop in for a visit with Cecelia during her Monday office hours between Noon and 5p.m. in the Guild Room. Her Wednesday office hours are via Zoom; visits on Wednesdays, also between Noon and 5p.m., are by arrangements made on Sunday, or via email. Reply to this message, and Cecelia will get back to you. The Path: Chapter 14 Our "Journey Through the Bible" continues with stories about Daniel, more prophecies from Isaiah, and an introduction to Ezekiel," on Monday at 7p.m., and Thursday at 9:30a.m. Click here for the Zoom. Copies of The Path are available on the Ushers' Table and on the Rectory Entry Hall shelf. Please feel free to join the conversation. Update from Shoreline Interfaith Resettlement Shoreline Interfaith Resettlement (SHIR)'s family of 11, co-sponsored with Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services (IRIS) is settling in. Thanks to the Education Committee, led by Jennifer Huebner, older family members are attending ESL classes and the children are now all in appropriate schools; necessary registrations are being completed with the help of Diane Pierpont; and getting to where they need to go happens with the help of the Transportation Committee headed by Winnie Seibert. Let's keep the family in our prayers as they work with SHIR's volunteers to make massive adjustments to life in America. Thanks to all Christ Church parishioners who generously provided over $6100 in financial support! Shoreline Interfaith Resettlement includes First Congregational Church of Guilford, St. George Catholic Church, Temple Beth Tikvah, North Madison Congregational Church, Christ Church, Guilford Rotary Club and other community individuals and groups. Intercessory Prayer: Please help shape the Prayers of the People, by replying to this message with the people, birthdays, anniversaries, and concerns you would like included in the Prayers of the People.
